ABOUT
SYNOPSIS:

#FareLife gives us a peak inside the lives of Connecticut strangers from all walks of life as they ride from place to place with everyone’s favorite FareRide driver, affectionately called “buddy”. From drag queens to estranged parents to drunk strangers, follow “buddy’s” adventures as he navigates the streets and the pitfalls of living, in this zany, touching and often times irreverent ride of a lifetime.

OFFICIAL TRAILER:
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT

As a gay man who grew up in Connecticut in the 1990’s, practicing secrecy like my life depended on it, I learned to escape into the world of stories, on TV, in movies and anywhere I could find them. From the tiny slit in the door of the closet in which I lived my first twenty-three years of life, I watched as everyone grew up around me. I longed to feel “normal” and to have the same milestones everyone else went through: a date to the prom that I was actually attracted to (I went with a girl), a high school sweet heart that wasn’t a classified secret, or just the freedom to be myself. But it was 1995 and LGBTQ+ issues weren’t cool, or trending, or even remotely mainstream. In fact, there wasn’t even a “Q” on there yet, that was over a year away still.

In 1998 I escaped into the world of “born again” Christianity and embarked on a three and half year missionary journey that took me to over thirty countries on four continents. During that time I met people from all walks of life. From African tribes men, to Thai medicine women, from London street beggars to Norwegian Ice fishermen, I experienced so much culture in such a short period of time.

Now, decades later, as a story teller myself, it is my passion to weave tales that strike at the heart of life’s paradox and mystery and reveal the truth about the struggles of humanity. Lastly I hope to represent the infinite diversity to which I’ve born witness in both the mundane and sacred moments of life. If our series can also help to normalize the idea of LGBTQ lifestyles in the hearts and minds of my fellow human travelers on this journey we call being alive, then I’m even more blessed.

& the LGBTQIA+ Community

Thank you for considering making a donation to our project. Whether you plan to sponsor an entire episode as an executive producer (a few thousand), cover a meal or two as an associate producer (a few hundred), or just want to pitch in however you can (a few bucks) and receive special thanks in our credits, it all makes an enormous difference and means the world to us. This project has been made by volunteers up to now, so our crew is also very grateful for your support of local artists.
This project is meaningful because it is our way of normalizing and elevating marginalized experiences from all walks of life, especially the nuanced diversity in the LGBTQIA+ community. Viewed through the lens of a middle-aged gay filmmaker moonlighting as a ride share driver learning to navigate his own life while he navigates the streets of Connecticut, #FareLife boldly explores not only what it means to be out, but it what it means to truly learn how to be out, and proud
